Twisters: A movie to remember

SPOILERS So today I went to see the new Twisters movie with Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and to say the least, I walked out of that theater thinking that the movie was absolutely fantastic. I remember the last time I felt like that about a movie was when I saw Ghostbusters: Afterlife. These movies are similar in a sense that the group of protagonists is fighting off something that is uncontrollable. Moving on, Twisters was such a well-made movie that I think it's capable of winning some major awards at the Oscars next year. I was doing some research and learned that they did the storms using jet planes and CGI. I can't even begin to fathom how much work was put into making those tornadoes look real because it really looked like the characters' lives were in danger against the winds. Another thing I want to bring up is something I wish we could have had in the movie. The whole time I was thinking about Kate's backstory and her trauma of literally watching her friends be blown into a tornado and die, being the only one out of the 4 in the field to survive. I was surprised when she went back to chasing the tornadoes at all, but I was waiting for a scene where she tells Tyler about that incident, and he feels bad for mocking her for driving away from the first tornado, and he tells some secret about himself, and they bond over tornado trauma, I don't know. 😭 Instead, we got a brief line from Glen, "I read about you in the paper, sorry about your friends," and that's it. That disappointed me; I wanted a bigger emotional side to the movie instead of just all action. Nevertheless, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I went to see it with a friend, and the whole time our pearls were CLUTCHED; it had me on the edge of my seat. I also want to bring up the songs; oh my goodness, some of these songs need to be injected into my veins. I am such a sucker for country rock stuff, so "Ain't No Love in Oklahoma" and "Dead End Road" are masterpieces of music, and Luke Combs should be awarded for this song. Overall, I think the movie had an excellent plot, and I really loved the idea of the rivalry between Tyler's group and the Storm Par business. I think it set another level to the story and does raise awareness for real storm damage. I like the way they showed that helping people after a storm can be hard; it's hard to watch people lose everything they have, and I don't think I would be able to. I give credit to those who work in environments like that because it takes a lot to see things like that and still keep your cool and be calm for those who are not. I would recommend seeing this movie; it's not one you want to miss. But anyways, that's it for now. Sorry I haven't posted a blog in literally forever; trust I have like 4 drafts I just don't have the mental capacity to finish them right now, but they will get done. Also i know this one is really short compared to the others but expect more of this length, its just easier.
Signing off,
